About Dr. Allen
Dr. Allen is an oculoplastic surgeon in Houston, Texas. He is a Professor with Tenure in the Department of Ophthalmology of Baylor College of Medicine. He sees patients at Texas Children's Hospital and Alkek Eye Center. He is a Past President of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS), Editor-in-Chief of the journal Orbit, and President-Elect of IJCAHPO (International Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology). He is also Chief of Ophthalmology at Ben Taub Hospital.
He graduated from Duke University with a B.S. in Chemistry, then attended Baylor College of Medicine for his MD/PhD studies. He completed a residency in ophthalmology at the University of Iowa followed by two fellowships, one in ophthalmic genetics and a second in oculoplastic surgery, also at the University of Iowa. He is a former Assistant Professor at the University of New Mexico, and a former Associate Professor with tenure at the University of Iowa. He also held a clinical position at St Eriks Eye Hospital in Stockholm, Sweden. He is the former Carolyn F. Elles Professor of Ophthalmology at Baylor College of Medicine. He is a Professor at the University of Texas' Dell Medical School in Austin, Texas.

He is the author of Oculoplastic Surgery Videos, an education resource for beginning to advanced oculoplastic surgeons.
